Welcome to the Massey community. If your enrolment has been confirmed, congratulations 鈥 you're ready to start your first week of study. Start your study on a high note with Orientation. Order your student ID card

Your student ID card lets you access our library buildings, use the facilities and sit your exams. With a student ID, you will also get discounts at lots of shops, caf茅s and bars around our campuses. You can order your card after you鈥檝e enrolled in the courses for your first semester.

Sort out your timetable

Your academic year will begin with your first lectures or seminars. Make sure you know where you need to be and when by creating your timetable in the student portal. You will then be able to view your personal timetable in either the student portal or the Massey Uni app.

Confirm your tutorial times in Stream

Confirm your tutorial times in Stream
  • Open your course in Stream.
  • In the menu at the top left of the screen, choose 鈥淭utorials鈥.
  • If your course coordinator has set tutorial times, you鈥檒l be able to see yours on this page.
  • If the course coordinator wants you to choose from a range of times, you鈥檒l see your options on this page. Click on one to sign up. Remember to choose a time that doesn鈥檛 clash with any of your other lectures or tutorials.
  • Repeat this process for each of your courses.

  • Log in to the student portal and find the link to your timetable at the top right of the screen.
  • On this page, you鈥檒l be able to see all of the available lectures, tutorials and labs for each of the courses you鈥檙e enrolled in.
  • Hide the tutorials and lectures you don鈥檛 plan to attend by clicking on the blue tick-box in their top right hand corners.
  • You should be left with only the lectures, tutorials and labs that you鈥檙e signed up to.

Whether you鈥檙e studying on-campus or distance, you鈥檒l manage your life and academic work at Massey with our package of online learning tools: the student portal, Stream and MyHub.

Set these up before the start of your first semester so that when courses start, you'll be free to focus on learning.

Start to study independently

Working hard in lectures and classes is important, but studying on your own is key to getting the most out of your tertiary education.

Use your first week to plan how you鈥檒l stay on track academically.

  • Be organised and realistic about how much you need to study. Remember that each course takes about 12 hours鈥 work each week.
  • Find out when your assignments are due and when your tests and exams will be, so you can make a plan to meet your deadlines.

Library

Your campus library is a great place to focus on studying. You鈥檒l get free wifi and access to our library collections, plus individual and group study spaces.

Study & assignment support

Massey provides a range of online study, writing and referencing resources to help you improve your assignments, as well as general study advice.

This online series runs over the first month of the semester and is designed to help enhance writing and study skills.
